	Name: Tanya Clarke Email: tanya@flicker.co.uk Residence: London Nationality: British Profession: Photographer Date of Birth: 07.08.69 Tanya Clarke was born in the summer of 1969, one month after two men left footprints on the moon. At nine years old, she was prescribed her first pair of spectacles for short-sightedness: -4.75 left, -5.50 right. She hated wearing them – brown plastic NHS specs were not great for the young Tanya who dreamt of being Lynda Carter in 'Wonder Woman'. On her thirteenth birthday, she was given her first camera, a Kodak instamatic (exact model unknown) by her grand-parents. Too young to travel to Argentina and document the Falklands War, she practised taking pictures of her pets and school friends. By the time she was seventeen, Tanya was fed up with wearing spectacles and saved up her weekly wage from a Saturday supermarket job to buy her first pair of contact lenses. Her education was varied: Five primary schools, one secondary school, one further education college and two art schools. The culmination of these reasonably academic endeavours, a BA (Hons) in Fine Art Photography from Glasgow School of Art (1996). In 2002, Tanya finds she no owns several cameras, and uses mainly two (or maybe three): a Nikon FM3a, a Bronica ETRSi, sometimes a postwar Leica and a new Olympus MJU. She has decided to work exclusively in colour, this is where her strength lies and anyway she loves colour, especially blue and yellow, that soft pale yellow of sand and the postcard blue sky on a sunny day. She is experimenting more and more with using that surprise light from a flash gun, as well as, letting the slow ambient light from a low lit scene etch the film. Tanya hopes to be famous one day and would also like to learn the art of fencing. She has taken some lovely pictures of her nephew, Joe, who is 1 – she feels this is a turning point.
